TIG Consumables
TIG (tungsten inert gas) consumables attach to a TIG torch and need to be replaced as they become worn or damaged from the welding process. Nozzles focus shielding gas on the weld pool to keep contaminants out of it. Gas lenses and collet bodies release shielding gas into the nozzle. Collets hold the electrode in place in the torch and allow current to flow from the torch to the electrode. Insulators help extend the life of the gun nozzle or prevent unwanted contact with electrically live parts on the torch. Back caps cover the back portion of the electrode to prevent it from shorting out during welding, and they put pressure on the collet to keep the electrode in place in the collet. A complete TIG torch setup includes a nozzle, collet body or gas lens, collet, insulators, back cap, torch body, torch handle, and tungsten electrode.
