Gasket Type

Ring Gasket fits inside the bolt area of a flange and is typically used on raised-face (RF) flange. It can be dropped into a flange assembly without fully disassembling the joint.
Full-Face Gasket covers the full surface area of the flange with holes to insert and align the flange bolts. The joint must be fully disassembled to install.

For Flange ANSI Class

The ANSI class rating of the flange that will work with the gasket. ANSI class ratings specify the maximum amount of pressure the pipe can withstand at increasing temperatures. The higher the class rating, the more pressure the flange can withstand.

For Pipe Size

The nominal pipe size that fits the gasket. This is not a measurement but an industry-accepted standardized size based on the pipe's inside diameter (ID).

Thickness

The thickness of the gasket measured in inches. Thinner gaskets handle higher compression stress but require a more finished flange surface. Thicker gaskets help fill surface irregularities and absorb vibration, but allow more room for leaks to permeate and may require retightening. As a general rule, the thinnest gasket possible should be selected to fit the needs of the application.
