Oxygen purge monitors measure oxygen levels inside a pipe to ensure that purge gas has replaced enough oxygen to produce a quality weld. The sensor fits through the gap between the pipes to measure oxygen levels as the purge gas is introduced. Pipe purging is done before TIG welding stainless steel, aluminum, and other corrosion-resistant materials to prevent oxidation that can negatively affect appearance and the material's corrosion resistance.
