Brazing flux prevents surfaces from oxidizing during brazing to ensure a strong joint. This allows brazing alloys to properly wet and bond to the joints when the alloys are flowed into the joints. Flux is applied to the surface of the joint before brazing, and excess flux must be washed off after the brazing process is complete.
