Welding cable reels help to prevent trip hazards and damage to cables, due to excess cable being contained within the reel. Welding cable reels incorporate a continuous current path, allowing the stored cable to be energized through an enclosed live slip ring. These reels rotate on a central axle, allowing welding cable to be safely stored when not in use, or dispensed to a desired length when needed. Welding cable reels effectively extend the service life of welding cables by preventing kinked or tangled leads.
Spring-Return Welding Cable Reels
Spring-return welding cable reels, also called self-retracting welding cable reels automatically retract, or wind welding cable back onto the reel without an external power source. The spring-return welding cable reels have a locking ratchet and pawl which engages once the desired amount of cable has been dispensed. The ratchet is released by pulling the cable out, and then cable can be rewound onto the reel for safe storage and transportation.

Hand-Crank Welding Cable Reels
Hand-crank welding cable reels allow a user to manually dispense as much cable as is needed to reach a work area. A manual drum lock prevents accidental unwinding of the reel, maintaining the amount of dispensed cable. When the work is completed, the drum can be unlocked, and the hand crank can be used to wind the remaining cable back onto the reel for safe storage and transportation.

Dual Spool Hand-Crank Welding Cable Reels
Dual-spool hand-crank welding cable reels feature two independently operating drums, which are mounted to the same attachment point vertically, or side by side. Both reels have manual drum locks, preventing accidental unwinding of the reels and maintaining the amount of dispensed cable. When the work is completed, the drums can be unlocked, and the hand cranks can be used to wind the remaining cable back onto the reels for safe storage and transportation.
