Socket end wrenches have an enclosed head that fits around and grips the entire head of the fastener so the socket won’t slip off when tightening and loosening fasteners. They have a socket on each end of the wrench while some wrenches have two sockets back-to-back on one end of the handle. Sockets do not detach from the wrench handle to avoid loss of sockets. Flex-head and T-handle driver wrenches allow access to fasteners in tight spaces. Ratcheting socket end wrenches help speed tightening and loosening of fasteners with a mechanism that allows the wrench to rotate freely in one direction without having to remove the wrench head from the fastener and reposition the wrench.
