Specialty Impact Sockets
Available17 products
Specialty impact sockets are used with impact power tools that apply more torque than standard sockets in loosening and tightening nonstandard fasteners. They have an enclosed head that grips the entire head of the fastener so the socket won’t slip off. Impact power wrenches have a square nub called the drive that fits into the same size drive end of the socket for secure attachment to the drive tool. The sockets are constructed to securely attach to the impact tool so the socket won’t fly off the drive of the impact wrench during use. They can handle the higher torque and vibration generated by an impact power wrench when turning a fastener.
Utility Impact Sockets
Utility impact sockets, also known as lineman's sockets, are for use on specialty fasteners used in electrical, gas, power, and water utility applications.

SAE Budd Wheel Impact Sockets
These SAE Budd wheel impact sockets can loosen and tighten wheel nuts with a ball seat and where the wheel has beveled bolt holes, typically found on buses and large trucks having a set of dual wheels on the rear axle. The inner wheel on a set of dual wheels is held on by a stud that has a square drive that goes over the stud on the hub. The outer wheel is held to the inner wheel by a conventional lug nut that goes on the stud that holds the inner wheel to the hub. Sockets come in sizes that are measured in inches and fractions of an inch to fit fasteners with an SAE (inch) size head.

Castellated Impact Sockets
Castellated impact sockets are used with impact power tools to tighten and loosen a castellated nut, also known as a castle nut. The nut has notches cut into one end and it is twisted onto a threaded bolt with a hole drilled into it. After the castellated nut is tightened to the correct torque, a cotter pin is passed through the hole in the threaded bolt and between the notches in the castle nut to secure the nut from turning.

Metric Budd Wheel Impact Sockets
These metric Budd wheel impact sockets can loosen and tighten wheel nuts with a ball seat and where the wheel has beveled bolt holes, typically found on buses and large trucks having a set of dual wheels on the rear axle. The inner wheel on a set of dual wheels is held on by a stud that has a square drive that goes over the stud on the hub. The outer wheel is held to the inner wheel by a conventional lug nut that goes on the stud that holds the inner wheel to the hub. Sockets come in sizes that are measured in millimeters to fit fasteners with a metric size head.
