Specialty impact socket sets are tools for tightening and loosening nonstandard bolts and other fasteners. They are for use with impact power tools that can apply more torque than standard sockets. Impact sockets have an enclosed head that grips the entire head of the fastener so the socket won’t slip off. Impact power wrenches have a square nub called the drive that fits into the same size drive end of the socket for secure attachment to the drive tool. The sockets are constructed to securely attach to the impact tool so the socket won’t fly off the drive of the impact wrench during use.
