Bases support a compatible router motor, set the cutting depth, and dictate the types of cuts the router can make. The base type determines the accuracy of the cut, how the bit enters the workpiece (from the top or at the edge), and whether the bit can move up or down while cutting.

Router guides supply a template or set a path that routers follow to produce cuts of a specific shape or placement. They are used for applications such as creating curved slots and insets, routing cutouts for door hinges, or forming grooves parallel to workpiece edges.

Dust collection accessories for routers gather wood chips and dust and direct them into a dust extractor to prevent debris from spraying out and settling on equipment and surfaces in the workspace. They fit specific router brands and models.

Router tables provide a large, dedicated work surface to mount handheld routers and support workpieces. They connect handheld routers to the underside of the table, turning them into stationary routers and leaving both hands free to guide workpieces along the cutting bit. Their fence, faceplates, and featherboards guide cuts to produce perfectly straight edges and are removable to cut freehand or with templates. Router wrenches tighten and loosen the nuts that hold bits within a collet. They provide a firm grip on the nuts when changing and installing router bits. These wrenches are sized to fit collet nuts on specific router brands and models. Some routers require two wrenches─one to turn the collet nut and one to turn the spindle nut.

These collets replace missing or damaged collets, which no longer hold bits securely in the router. Their shank connects to the motor spindle, and their head grips the bit to prevent it from wobbling or loosening during routing. They hold bits with a shank diameter that matches the collet size.
