Bases support a compatible router motor, set the cutting depth, and dictate the types of cuts the router can make. The base type determines the accuracy of the cut, how the bit enters the workpiece (from the top or at the edge), and whether the bit can move up or down while cutting.

Router wrenches tighten and loosen the nuts that hold bits within a collet. They provide a firm grip on the nuts when changing and installing router bits. These wrenches are sized to fit collet nuts on specific router brands and models. Some routers require two wrenches─one to turn the collet nut and one to turn the spindle nut.

These collets replace missing or damaged collets, which no longer hold bits securely in the router. Their shank connects to the motor spindle, and their head grips the bit to prevent it from wobbling or loosening during routing. They hold bits with a shank diameter that matches the collet size.
