Metal-cutting band saw blades have tooth geometries that are optimized to cut a variety of metals on vertical or horizontal metal-cutting band saws. Metal-cutting band saws have a lower speed than wood-cutting band saws. Toothed blades generally leave a cleaner edge than blades with an abrasive edge. Narrow blades are often used on smaller machines and are flexible for making curved cuts when used on vertical band saws. Standard blades are used in vertical and horizontal band saws for maintenance work, small-scale fabrication and woodworking, and other intermittent tasks. Wide blades are used in production and manufacturing work and when longer cuts need to be made.
