Vertical metal-cutting band saws cut material as it is pushed past the blade while the band saw head remains stationary. They have a flexible blade that makes straight and curved cuts. Vertical band saws are used in maintenance and machine shops and small fabrication houses. Metal-cutting band saws have a lower rpm and higher force than wood-cutting bandsaws. This reduces blade temperature and improves chip clearance to extend blade life and produces a clean, finished edge that requires less rework before use.
