Cordless hand planers shave thin layers of material from the wood boards to level them to a uniform thickness, smooth off rough spots, profile edges, and cut slots. They perform smaller jobs and more detailed work than stationary planers. Multiple blades on their rotating cutting drum evenly trim off material as the planer is moved along the workpiece. Their adjustable control sets the cutting depth. One or more machined grooves in the front shoe of the planer create chamfers (angled profiles on workpiece edges).
