Wall scanners project their signal farther than stud finders, penetrate through a greater variety of materials, and provide a clearer picture of underlying objects than stud finders do. They sense underlying objects such as studs, beams, cable, pipe, and ducts to find and mark locations to avoid when cutting or drilling into walls, floors, ceilings, and other surfaces.
