Combination and double squares provide a movable head that locks in along a rule to go beyond basic measurement and marking of straight lines and angles. These sliding squares check work for squareness, mark right angles, and lay out perpendicular lines like try squares. They also adjust their rule to make lines parallel to edges, check workpiece and tool alignment, and transfer measurements between materials and machine setups.
