Borescopes with detachable monitors inspect areas that are difficult to access or may be potentially hazardous to users. They feature monitors that can be detached from the borescope allowing for greater flexibility when inspecting potentially hazardous areas or events.

Borescopes for use in harsh environments feature ruggedized components that are water-, shock-, abrasion-, and chemical-resistant. They are commonly used in wet or hazardous locations such as oil refineries and chemical production facilities.

Borescopes with articulating probes feature video probes that can flex and bend in different directions to provide greater visibility around corners and obstacles.

Borescopes with infrared camera probes use infrared sensors to observe thermal anomalies and display them as color-coded images on a monitor. They inspect confined spaces and the interiors of assembled equipment for hotspots and leaks.

Dual-view borescopes feature probes with two separate cameras that point in different directions. The most common configuration is one camera pointed straight and one angled 90° from the first. This allows users to inspect the walls of a space and also view into the space itself to help guide the probe to where the inspection is needed.
