These thermistor probes are attached to the outer walls of HVAC ducts with a flange. Their long, stem-style probe is then inserted into the duct to measure the temperature and quality of air flowing through the duct. They are commonly used in building automation, variable air volume temperature sensing, chiller or boiler loops, and in air handler monitoring applications.
