Start probes are installed at the upstream end of a holding tube. They test the temperature of the water, and the time it takes the water to flow through that holding tube. The water in this part of the system is used to heat milk and must maintain a temperature of 160°F for 15 seconds.

Milk Pasteurization Testing Injectors
Milk pasteurization testing injectors introduce saline into the milk processing system. Probes detect the saline and time how long saline takes to flow through a holding tube. This meets the HTST (High Temperature Short Time) method of pasteurization which requires milk to maintain a temperature of 160°F for 15 seconds.
