Blood pressure monitors measure the force of blood circulating through arteries. Also known as sphygmomanometers, they use a cuff that wraps around a patient's limb and inflates to measure blood pressure. They take readings of systolic pressure (when the heart squeezes) over diastolic pressure (when the heart relaxes).
