Confined space backboard attachments slip into vehicle wrecks, tunnels, sewers, and other areas with limited access for entry and exit to support and stabilize injured people for extrication. Also known as Kendrick extrication devices (KED), they have a collar for head support and vest for spine support. People fitted with KEDs are typically placed on a backboard after extrication.
