Bag valve mask (BVM) resuscitators deliver a push of air with each squeeze of the bag to ventilate people through their nose and mouth. Also known as manual pulmonary resuscitators (MPR), they consist of a self-inflating bag, a face mask, a one-way valve, and a port to connect tubing to a supply of oxygen.

Non-rebreather masks (NRM) maintain a tight seal around the nose and mouth to supply the highest concentrations of oxygen. Their one-way valve blocks outside air from entering the mask to prevent dilution of the oxygen.

Medium-concentration oxygen masks provide an alternative to nasal cannulas when access to nostrils is blocked or when a higher concentration of oxygen is required. They allow ambient air to mix in with supplied oxygen for situations that don't require the higher oxygen concentration of non-rebreather masks.

Aerosol masks deliver inhalable medications for respiratory treatments. They are commonly used with nebulizers.
