Nasopharyngeal tubes slide into the nostrils to bypass upper airway blockages for an open passage to the lungs. Also known as nasopharyngeal airways (NPA), they are slim and flexible to ease insertion. Their flared end sits outside the nostril to anchor the tube in place and provide an edge to grip for removal. They are disposed of after a single use.
