Pedestal-mount flexible impeller utility pumps have an exposed drive shaft and they couple to a motor of a compatible horsepower rating with a belt or pulley. Flexible impeller pumps induce minimal sheer pressure on fluids and create minimal pulsation during operation for a smoother flow rate, suitable for handling water, non-abrasive solutions, corrosive liquids, slurries, delicate liquids, viscous liquids, and liquids with suspended solids. These are self-priming pumps and need an initial prime to create a proper seal and transfer liquids from a source below the pump's inlet.
