Foot valves install at the end of a pump's suction line to prevent media from flowing backward into the pump when it's off to keep pumps primed. A screen at the valve's inlet helps filter and prevent large debris from entering and damaging the pump. Additionally, they have an opening larger than the piping to prevent head loss.
