Packaging peanuts, or packing peanuts, are reusable, loose packing material that takes up space in a container. They fill excess space around a product and provide some protection against damage during transit for items that are not fragile. Packing peanuts surround items that have been wrapped with other protective packaging material such as air bubble rolls and sheets or foam. Packaging peanuts are stored in bags or boxes at a packaging station to prepare items for shipment.
