Pallet jacks have forks that slide underneath or into openings on pallets, skids, and containers, and they have a hydraulic pump that lifts the loaded forks. Also known as pallet trucks, pallet pumps, and pump trucks, these wheeled vehicles are used to lift and move heavy loads in warehouses, loading docks, manufacturing plants, and other industrial settings. Pallet jacks require less maintenance and can maneuver more easily in tight spaces than forklifts. Manual pallet jacks are completely operated by hand and require less maintenance than fully powered and partially powered pallet jacks. Manual-lift/powered-drive pallet jacks and powered pallet jacks are fully or partially powered by an electric motor and take less physical effort to operate than manual pallet jacks. Unless noted otherwise, pallet jacks are for use on firm, level surfaces because they may roll back if used on inclines.

Weigh-&-Go Pallet Jacks
Weigh-and-go pallet jacks have built-in scales for weighing loads that are placed on the pallet jacks' forks. Also known as scale jacks, weigh-and-go pallet jacks save time by allowing loads to be moved and weighed without having to transfer the loads from the pallet jacks' forks to a floor scale. The scales have a digital display that allows weight readings to be seen at a glance.

Quiet-Operation Manual Pallet Jacks
These manual pallet jacks use sound-deadening materials, quiet-roll wheels and load rollers, and specially designed bushings in the pump assembly to limit the noise that is created by the pallet jacks to less than 60dB. Roll-&-Reel Manual Pallet Jacks
Roll-and-reel manual pallet jacks have triangular forks that slant down toward their inside edge. This allows heavy rolled or spooled goods to be securely loaded and carried on the forks. Also known as coil pallet jacks, roll-and-reel pallet jacks are used for moving rolls or coils of materials such as paper, sheet metal, and wire.

Low-Profile Manual Pallet Jacks
Low-profile manual pallet jacks have a lower fork height than other styles of pallet jacks, typically 2" or less. Also called lowboy pallet jacks, they can enter very low openings on pallets. Low-profile pallet jacks with a 33" fork width are sometimes called four-way pallet jacks because they can fit into standard openings on the front and back of the pallets as well as low-entry cutouts on the pallets' side stringers, allowing them to enter pallets from all four sides.
