General purpose dollies are wheeled platforms that are positioned under furniture, cartons, crates, and other large, heavy loads to reduce effort when moving the loads from one place to another along relatively flat ground. They provide more support for large loads and are easier to maneuver than hand trucks, and they do not require the loads to be leaned back and balanced. Items need to be lifted onto the dollies manually or with a lifting device.

Adjustable-Length Open-Deck Steel General Purpose Dollies
The deck on these dollies can be made longer or shorter to hold different sizes of loads. The length is adjusted with a spring-loaded lock pin. Steel dollies are more resistant to cracks and scratches than aluminum, plastic, or wood dollies. These dollies have a large open space in the middle of their deck that prevents debris from collecting on the deck. Also known as H-deck dollies, open-deck dollies weigh less and are easier to carry than solid-deck dollies. These dollies are sold as a pair.
