Carbide Straight-Flute Machine Taps

Available239 products
Carbide straight-flute taps are harder than high-speed steel, cobalt, and powdered-metal straight-flute taps. They provide excellent heat resistance and can be used for tapping hard materials at high speeds. Straight-flute taps are used to create or repair internal threads in blind holes and through holes. As the taps are rotated into a hole to create threads, the chips move into the flutes but are not evacuated. Carbide straight-flute taps are installed into a toolholder on a machine for machine tapping applications.

TiCN-Coated DIN/ANSI Carbide Straight-Flute Taps

TiCN-Coated DIN/ANSI Carbide Straight-Flute Taps
The TiCN coating on these taps protects them from wear and is harder and more wear-resistant than a TiN coating. These taps meet DIN length standards and have a longer overall length than taps that meet ISO, ANSI, and JIS length standards. They also meet ANSI shank standards, which means they measure their shank diameter in inches and fit in standard tools used in the U.S.

Bright Finish DIN/ANSI Carbide Straight-Flute Taps

Bright Finish DIN/ANSI Carbide Straight-Flute Taps
The bright finish on these taps provides a smooth, polished surface. These taps meet DIN length standards and have a longer overall length than taps that meet ISO, ANSI, and JIS length standards. They also meet ANSI shank standards, which means they measure their shank diameter in inches and fit in standard tools used in the U.S.

TiCN-Coated Carbide Straight-Flute Taps

TiCN-Coated Carbide Straight-Flute Taps
The TiCN coating on these taps protects them from wear and is harder and more wear-resistant than a TiN coating. Non-coolant-through taps do not have coolant holes, so a separate hose is required to bring coolant to the cutting area if it is needed.

CrC-Coated Coolant-Through Carbide Straight-Flute Taps

CrC-Coated Coolant-Through Carbide Straight-Flute Taps
The CrC/C coating on these taps is a multilayer coating with a base layer of titanium nitride (TiN) and an outer layer of chromium carbide carbon (CrC/C). It protects the tools from wear when tapping titanium, titanium alloys, aluminum, and other ferrous and nonferrous materials. Coolant-through taps have holes that allow coolant to flow to their tip to reduce heat and friction during threading tasks.

TiAlN-Coated Carbide Straight-Flute Taps

TiAlN-Coated Carbide Straight-Flute Taps
The TiAlN coating on these taps withstands high temperatures and protects the taps from wear. It allows the taps to be used at faster speeds than taps with a bright finish, and it resists cracks and oxidation better than TiN or TiCN coatings. Non-coolant-through taps do not have coolant holes, so a separate hose is required to bring coolant to the cutting area if it is needed.
