Vernier Calipers & Compact Slide Calipers

Available27 products
Vernier calipers have sliding jaws on a graduated beam. The sliding scale is used to measure between two opposite sides of a tool or part. The main fixed scale allows measurements in millimeters or inches while the sliding vernier scale provides a high-precision measurement. Compact slide calipers do not have a higher-precision second scale. They are small enough to fit in shop coat pockets. These calipers are commonly graduated with fractions of an inch and often used by woodworkers and for maintenance applications.

Vernier Calipers

Vernier Calipers
Vernier calipers have a fixed jaw paired with a sliding jaw that moves along a graduated scale to take inside and outside measurements. The jaws are used to contact the opposite sides of an object, workpiece, or feature. Operators read the main and vernier scales and add the values together to determine the reading. These calipers require expertise to read correctly.

Compact Slide Calipers

Compact Slide Calipers
Compact slide calipers, also known as sliding gauge rulers and pocket slide calipers, are built with a stationary jaw that’s mounted to the end of a graduated rule and a moving jaw that’s slid open and shut manually. These calipers may have standard jaws for outside measurements or nib-style jaws for outside and inside dimensions.
