Powdered-metal jobber-length drill bits are stronger and harder than cobalt or high-speed steel drill bits and are less rigid and less likely to break than carbide drill bits. They are used in drill presses and similar machine setups. Jobber-length drill bits are the most commonly used drill-bit length. They provide a good balance of strength and accuracy when drilling into a variety of materials.
