Surface-mount lights are LED or fluorescent fixtures that attach directly to ceilings or walls to supply general lighting in workplaces, healthcare settings, and retail spaces. Fluorescent fixtures are typically used to replace existing fixtures. LED fixtures use significantly less energy than fluorescent ones and have built-in LED arrays, so there are no light bulbs to install and replace. Strip lights have a simple housing that's slightly larger than the light bulb it holds. Wraparound lights (wraps) have a lens that extends up the sides of the fixture to spread light over a wide area. Wall-mounted lights attach to a wall to shine light down onto floors and surfaces. LED suspension-mount lights hang down from the ceiling to provide more light than a pendant fixture and a more refined look than a strip light or wrap. LED stairwell lights provide constant light in stairwells with no other source of light.
