2-ft. LED strip lights mount to surfaces as part of new lighting installations or as replacements for fluorescent strip lights of the same size. They use significantly less energy than fluorescent fixtures and have built-in LED arrays so there are no light bulbs to install or replace. The 2-ft. size is commonly used to light closets and small work areas. Strip lights are linear fixtures with a housing that's slightly larger than the light bulb it holds.
Tube-Style 2 ft. LED Strip Lights
The tube-style lens of these LED strip lights resembles linear tube light bulbs used in fluorescent strip lights. The curve of the lens spreads light over a wider area than a flat lens or lensless fixture. These fixtures allow conversion to LED a few fixtures at a time to maintain a consistent look in spaces with existing fluorescent fixtures, such as gyms, warehouses, and production floors.

Lensless 2 ft. LED Strip Lights
Lensless LED strip lights have no lens to modify or redirect light, so they send it directly below the fixture. Also called open or exposed strip lights, they are installed above workbenches or counters and in displays or under ledges where the fixture will be hidden from view. They look similar to retrofit light bars that mount within fixtures, but strip lights are independent fixtures with an internal driver for more versatile mounting.
