Microscope lenses and eyepieces direct sample images to the eye or camera for viewing. Eyepieces and lenses each have a magnification rating that combine to provide overall magnification level. For example, a 2x eyepiece and a 100x lens provides 200x magnification.
Microscope Lenses
Microscope lenses magnify samples. Sometimes called microscope objectives, they install below the nosepiece. Lenses have a specific magnification (for example 2x or 100X) which refers to how much larger the specimen will look compared to the naked eye.

Microscope eyepieces install above the head where viewers look to view specimens. Sometimes called ocular lenses, they have a rated magnification level and can often be focused to accommodate different viewers.
