Telescopic hydraulic rams have pistons that are extended in multiple stages, allowing the ram to lift loads higher than standard rams. Extending the length in multiple stages eliminates the need for cribbing and allows the ram to be used in smaller spaces than standard rams with the same range. The pressure rating for telescoping hydraulic cylinders is applied to the smallest radius when the piston is fully extended.
