Air Cleaners for Ductless Systems
These air cleaners install at the base of HVAC system cooling coils to reduce airborne contaminants and help improve indoor air quality. Also known as ductless system air purifiers, they are small enough to fit into mini-splits, packaged terminal air conditioners (PTACs), and variable refrigerant flow (VRF) systems. They can also be installed in ducted HVAC systems and are sometimes mounted near the cooling coils in ice machines to help prevent the growth of mold and mildew. Ductless air cleaners only clean the air when the HVAC system is running because they rely on the airflow of the HVAC system to circulate the air past them. They require professional installation.
Particle-Removal Ionization Bars
Ionization bars neutralize airborne pollutants and bind ions to dust, allergens, and other particles in the air that pass over the devices. This ionization makes the particles larger and heavier and allows them to be more effectively captured by the HVAC system's filters, which helps improve indoor air quality. These air cleaners don't use filters or bulbs, so they require minimal maintenance. They install at the base of the cooling coils in ductless or ducted HVAC systems.
