Lipped strike plates work with standard latch bolts and have a curved lip or edge that the bolt slides into. These plates install on door frames opposite the door latch.

Double-lipped strike plates attach to door frames to provide additional security by reinforcing the area where the latch or bolt sits. They have two lips: one engages with the latch or bolt when the door closes; the other covers the gap between the door and the frame, making it harder for people to force the door open or tamper with the lock. These strike plates are often used on center-hung doors.

Dust-proof strike plates mount directly onto the floor and pair with doors that use bottom bolts, such as sliding or French doors. They use a spring mechanism that lets the latch enter the strike plate when the door closes; when opened, the spring pushes the strike back into a seated position to prevent dust, dirt, or debris from entering the strike hole.
