Step key stock is used to create step keys which are also called repair keys. The key stock is formed into a t-shaped profile that fits easily into worn or damaged assemblies and comes in two types. Type I is intended for use with repaired gears, pulleys, and sprockets. Type II is meant for use in repaired shaft keyways.
