Combination Motor Starters
Combination starters are electrically operated motor controllers that combine contactors, overload relays, disconnect switches, and short-circuit protection. They control and monitor electrical loads while protecting operators from injury and motors from damage caused by overheating, low voltage, and overcurrent. IEC combination starters are made to standards designated by the International Electrotechnical Commission. NEMA combination starters are made to standards designated by the National Electric Manufacturers Association. Hazardous-location combination starters are constructed for use in environments where flammable gases, liquids, flyings, and other combustible materials are present. Modular combination motor starter systems are individual devices that combine to provide power, network, and diagnostic control over motor systems.
