These nipples are commonly used for short distances where threaded PVC-coated metal conduit isn’t practical, or to close the gap between the last full piece of conduit and a knockout. They mount through a knockout or hole and lock in place with a locknut, or they thread onto the end of a piece of conduit and are then inserted into the knockout or hole.
