High-efficiency laundry detergents, also called HE detergents, are specially formulated to clean clothing and fabrics in energy-saving washing machines that use less water. HE washing machines use these low-sudsing detergents with a tumbling washing action to lift soils from clothing, towels, bedding, and linens, and prevent them from redepositing on fabrics. These concentrated laundry detergents are specifically formulated for use with high-efficiency front- or top-load washing machines but also work with traditional washing machines.
