Hard Arkansas single-grit oilstones provide high control over the angle and contact when sharpening blades and small cutting edges. Hard Arkansas abrasive is a dense natural abrasive that creates a razor-sharp cutting edge when precision sharpening and polishing is desired. Oilstones are lubricated using abrasive stone oil to push the loosened abrasive and metal shavings away from the stone's surface to create a smooth, polished blade. Oil is applied to surface before sharpening and generally takes longer to sharpen than waterstones.
