Square abrasive pads grind and smooth metal surfaces, blend fillet welds, and smooth channels and inside corners. Fresh abrasive is exposed as the corners wear down and the pad becomes round. Square abrasive pads are easier to use and control than hard wheels. They require a mandrel to install them in a die grinder or other rotary tool. The flexible, tear-resistant cloth backing conforms to contours and is more durable and tear resistant than paper.
General Purpose Square Pads for All Materials
General purpose square pads optimized for use on all surfaces have an aluminum oxide abrasive applied to a backing material. Aluminum oxide is a strong, sharp, and durable abrasive that penetrates the work surface and withstands heat and high speeds. Example materials include metal, composites, wood, ceramic, plastic, and porcelain.
