Hook & Loop Sanding Discs
General Purpose Sanding Discs for All Surfaces
General purpose sanding discs for all surfaces have an open-coat aluminum oxide abrasive applied to a paper backing. Aluminum oxide is a strong, sharp, and durable abrasive that penetrates the work surface and withstands heat and high speeds. Open-coat abrasives have grit on about 50% of the surface leaving space between the abrasive grains to prevent swarf from clogging the surface which keeps the workpiece cooler. The paper backing provides a smooth, flat surface to provide consistent pressure across the work surface. Compatible surfaces and substrates include paint, plastic, composites, gelcoat, fiberglass, and carbon steel.

High-Performance Sanding Discs for Wood & Soft Metals
High-performance sanding discs for use on wood and soft metals have an open-coat zirconia alumina abrasive applied to a paper backing. Zirconia alumina grains break down frequently to create fresh, sharp edges to cut and finish faster than aluminum oxide. It cuts cooler than aluminum oxide and is often used for high stock removal or under high pressure. The paper backing provides a smooth, flat surface to provide consistent pressure across the work surface. Examples of soft metals include aluminum, copper, and brass.

Cool-Cutting Sanding Discs for All Surfaces
Cool-cutting sanding discs optimized for use on all surfaces have an open-coat ceramic abrasive applied to a paper backing. Ceramic self-sharpens faster than other abrasives to remove material quicker. Quicker material removal speeds up the work and keeps the surface cooler, making ceramic a good choice for heat-sensitive metals.

Flexible Cool-Cutting Sanding Discs for Stainless Steel & Nickel Alloys
Flexible cool-cutting sanding discs for use on stainless steel and nickel alloys have a closed-coat ceramic abrasive applied to a cloth backing. Other workpiece materials include cobalt, Inconel, titanium, and chrome. Ceramic self-sharpens faster than other abrasives to remove material quicker. Quicker material removal speeds up the work and keeps the surface cooler, making ceramic a good choice for heat-sensitive metals. Closed-coat abrasives have abrasive grain across the entire surface to provide a smoother finish and faster material removal than open-coat coverage. The flexible, tear-resistant cloth backing conforms to contours and is more durable and tear resistant than paper.
