Flap Discs

Available41 products
Flap discs attach to angle grinders to smooth welds, clean surfaces, deburr, blend, and finish metal. Overlapping abrasive flaps are attached to a backing plate to provide a stable base. As the abrasive and backing material wear away, new abrasive is exposed to prolong the usable lifespan. Flap discs are more flexible than grinding discs, so they're less aggressive and produce a smoother finish.

General Purpose Flap Discs for Stainless Steel & Soft Metals

General Purpose Flap Discs for Stainless Steel & Soft Metals
General purpose flap discs for stainless steel and soft metals are made of coated aluminum oxide abrasive. A grinding aid helps keep temperatures low and reduces loading to increase abrasive life. Aluminum oxide is a strong, sharp, and durable abrasive that penetrates the work surface and withstands heat and high speeds. Other workpiece materials include carbon steel, aluminum, and brass.

Type 27 Disc

Type 27 Disc

Type 27 is best suited for blending areas and smooth finishing. It is used primarily with the tool held at a 0° to 15° angle.

High-Performance Flap Discs for All Metals

High-Performance Flap Discs for All Metals
High-performance flap discs optimized for use on all metals have a zirconia alumina abrasive. Zirconia alumina grains break down frequently to create fresh, sharp edges to cut and finish faster than aluminum oxide. It cuts cooler than aluminum oxide and is often used for high stock removal or under high pressure.

Cool-Cutting Flap Discs for Carbon & Stainless Steel

Cool-Cutting Flap Discs for Carbon & Stainless Steel
Cool-cutting flap discs for carbon and stainless steel are self-sharpening to remove material faster than other abrasives. Faster removal also keeps the surface cooler, making ceramic a good choice for heat-sensitive metals. Other workpiece material examples include structural steel, cast iron, and heat-sensitive alloys.
