Expanding drums and drum wheels hold inline drum sanding belts and abrasive spiral bands so they can be used in a drum sander, drill press, or handheld rotary tool. Drums and wheels don't use adhesives to hold abrasive bands in place so the drums and bands can be reused.

Expanding drums for spiral bands install in a rotary tool to hold spiral bands secure. A fastener is turned to expand the drum and hold the band in place without requiring use of an adhesive.

Slotted Expander Drums for Spiral Bands
Slotted expander drums hold spiral bands in place using centrifugal force applied when the tool rotates. Slotted drums apply more even pressure than standard expanding drums. Tension on the band is relieved when the tool stops turning, making it easier to change bands.
